Blake Hansen formed Alturas Capital in 2007. He has been investing in real estate since 2003, and has more than 20 years of investment experience. He has a passion for business and investing, especially creating a diversified portfolio of cash generating assets.
As Principal, Blake oversees the investment strategies of the firm. He leads Alturas’ team of investment professionals, and co-chairs the investment committee of the firm.
Since 2011, Blake has been on the board of AlertSense, a growing software as a service company based in Boise. He co-chairs efforts through the Idaho Technology Council relating to access to capital, and oversees the creation of an annual Idaho Deal Flow Report. He is on the Boise State Alumni Association Board and actively invests in local companies.
Blake studied business at Brigham Young University, and graduated from Boise State University with a degree in accountancy. Prior to forming Alturas, Blake managed a personal portfolio of real estate assets, and spent time as an auditor at a national public accounting firm.
Blake and his wife Kimberly, live in Meridian, Idaho with their five children, Allie, Sophie, William, Henry and Kate. He enjoys backpacking, fly-fishing, alpine skiing and spending time with his family, especially in the outdoors.
Partner and Chief Credit Officer
Travis Barney is a senior real estate investment professional with 10 years of experience in asset management, acquisition, disposition, underwriting and valuation, leasing, and due diligence. As President of Alturas Investments, Travis is responsible for overseeing the company’s real estate portfolio and executing Fund and property-level business plans.
Travis co-chairs the Investment Committee and he has purchased and executed more than $125 million of commercial real estate and debt collateralized by commercial real estate. His investment philosophy is rooted in risk management and value creation.
He holds a BS in Finance with a real estate emphasis from the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University.
Travis and his wife Brittney live Eagle, Idaho with their sons Grayson and Brock. He enjoys spending his free time with his family in the Idaho outdoors.
Director of Acquisitions & Asset Management
Devin is a senior commercial real estate investment professional with more than ten years experience in commercial real estate lending and finance, asset management, underwriting, valuation, and due diligence. As Director of Acquisitions and Asset Management at Alturas, Devin is responsible for overseeing the company’s real estate portfolio and acquiring assets that enhance the value of the Fund.
Before Alturas, Devin served as a Vice President of the Zions Bank Real Estate Banking Group in Boise, Idaho where he managed a loan portfolio of $60 million comprised of construction and term loans to various product types including multifamily, office, retail and industrial. Prior to Zions Bank, he was an Assistant Vice President for Wells Fargo Middle Market Real Estate in Richmond, VA where he managed a loan portfolio of $75 million. As a result of an aggressive downtown revitalization plan in Richmond, Devin developed particular expertise on construction/renovation loans for historic properties including those utilizing historic tax credits.
He holds a BS in Business Management with an emphasis in finance from the Marriott School of Business at Brigham Young University as well as a Master of Real Estate Development from Clemson University.
Devin and his wife live in Hidden Springs, Idaho with their three children. He is a faithful BYU and Clemson alum who also enjoys travel, the outdoors, and following the English Premier League.
Chief Marketing Officer
Benji Mellish joined Alturas Capital in 2014 as Marketing Director after spending more than 7 years as Creative Services Director for Group One Sotheby’s. At Group One, Benji worked closely with Realtors and the organization creating high-quality marketing material and developing marketing plans. The company’s commitment to excellence and professional high standards helped mold Benji’s current design standards.
Benji graduated from Walla Walla University with a BS in Graphic Design. While attending Walla Walla, he was creative editor of the school newspaper, the editor of the campus pictorial directory, and communications coordinator for campus ministries.
In 2012 Benji graduated from Northwest Nazarene University with a Masters Degree in Business. Shortly after graduating from NNU, Benji joined TrailersPlus to focus on multi-channel marketing, eCommerce, and corporate branding.
Benji has more than 10 years of marketing expertise and knowledge of the real estate industry.
Benji and his wife live in Nampa, Idaho. They love to travel in their Airstream camping in the mountains and visiting National Parks.
Annette Newbold is Property Accountant for Alturas Capital. She has more than 20 years experience in the field, including public accounting, company staff accounting and property accounting.
She joined Alturas Capital in June, 2016 after moving to the Boise, Idaho area from Salt Lake City where she worked for firms like Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield of Utah and a private CPA firm. She graduated from LDS Business College with an AS in Accounting.
Annette enjoys gardening, cooking, needlework, reading, music and camping. She loves learning new skills and has recently started taking guitar lessons. She is an avid fan of exercise and says she has a firm belief that sharpening the saw is crucial for clear thinking.
